Ten social housing units in five semi-detached buildings on Farrell Drive in Mount Pearl are getting $73,000 worth of roofing and interior upgrades. Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation awarded the contract to G.S. Hunt Ltd. last fall.
“Our government is committed to building stronger communities. Renovations such as these help improve the quality of life for tenants and maintain our existing social housing assets.”
– The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation
Work includes replacing existing asphalt shingles, damaged roof sheathing, eavestroughs and attic hatches. Interior renovations include installation of new bathroom fans and range hoods. The work is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
“Continued investment in upgrades and improvements helps ensure the preservation of our existing housing stock throughout the province, and provides those most in need with access to a good standard of safe and affordable rental housing.”
– John Ottenheimer, Chair, Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation
