NLHC completes $100,000 in roofing repairs to Shea Heights properties

St. John’s – Joan Burke, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC), and Tom Osborne, MHA for St. John’s South, today announced the completion of $100,000 in roofing renovations on NLHC social housing units in Shea Heights.
“As minister responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, I recognize there is a significant demand for modernization and renovations on many of our housing units across the province,” said Minister Burke. “We are committed to providing the highest level of maintenance on our units to ensure safe, quality housing for our clients.”

The work involved major roofing renovations to 14 units in Shea Heights and was completed through a contract awarded to GS Hunt Ltd. The work which began in June and has now been concluded.

Mr. Osborne commented, “I know the local tenants are pleased to have these roofing repairs completed. This project shows NLHC’s commitment in maintaining its social housing properties to the appropriate safety standards.”

The refurbishments are part of NLHC’s annual modernization and improvement plans for its social housing portfolio throughout the province.
